Hopper has agreed to pay $35 million to settle Federal Trade Commission allegations that the travel app unfairly charged hidden fees. The FTC complaint asserts that Hopper used deceptive dark patterns to mislead consumers about total prices and the actual benefits of its Price Freeze and VIP Support services. As part of the settlement, the companies operating Hopper are now prohibited from deceiving users regarding fees, following claims they flouted their own no hidden fees promises.
