Trump admin cuts Medicaid funds for youth trans care

The Trump administration finalized a rule blocking federal Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funding for gender-affirming care for transgender youth. This restriction applies to hormone therapy, puberty blockers, and surgeries, though psychotherapy for gender dysphoria remains covered. Effective October 13, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will enforce these cuts. While federal funds are barred, individual states may still utilize their own budgets to provide these specific medical services to minors.
