Burnham and European leaders arrive in Kyiv as Ukraine marks Independence Day

U.K. Prime Minister Andy Burnham arrived in Kyiv on Monday to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and co-chair a gathering of international leaders during Ukraine's Independence Day. Simultaneously, the European Commission approved €6.1 billion in new defense procurement funding. This financial support, totaling $7.12 billion, is designated for radars, ammunition, missiles, and air and missile defense systems. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen explicitly linked the timing of this funding to the ongoing war and Independence Day.
