‘Whalefall’ Review: Austin Abrams Gets Swallowed by a Whale in an Unintentionally Preposterous Thriller — a Tale of Human Perseverance and Mammalian Stomach Lining

Whalefall, directed by Brian Duffield and based on Daniel Kraus' novel, stars Austin Abrams as Jay, who is swallowed by a sperm whale. The survival thriller blends extreme body horror with themes of daddy issues. While some critics praise the ingenious premise and sincere adaptation, others find the visual effects mediocre and the plot preposterous. The film is described as a claustrophobic experience, ranging from an exceptional underwater horror to a ride resembling a pop-up theme park.
