Are fireworks legal in Illinois? What's allowed – and what's not – this Fourth of July

As the 4th of July holiday approaches, officials in Southern California warn of zero tolerance for illegal fireworks. Only devices with the State Fire Marshal-approved Safe and Sane seal are permitted. Fireworks bought online, shipped from out of state, or obtained from unlicensed sellers are illegal and dangerous. Meanwhile, residents in Washington state and Illinois are also reviewing local regulations to determine which fireworks are allowed and which are prohibited during the celebrations.
