How I Fixed My Forgetful AI Assistant Using Hindsight Agent Memory

Building custom AI assistants is challenging because standard LLMs are stateless, causing them to forget users between sessions. Many developers attempt to resolve this using traditional RAG by storing conversations as flat embedding vectors in a vector database. However, this semantic search approach often fails to provide genuine memory. To address these failures, the author abandoned traditional vector methods in favor of Hindsight Agent Memory to ensure the AI assistant retains critical user information across different sessions.
