Against Claude Cowork, DeepSeek opens its open-source Harness to developers

DeepSeek has released a developer preview of DeepSeek Harness, an open-source agent harness designed to compete with Anthropic’s Claude Cowork. Known as dsh and powered by Cordis architecture, it utilizes a plugin-based structure where capabilities like filesystem and web access are separate packages. This breadboard-style approach allows developers to plug in models and tools. Open source AI provides businesses with independence, cost savings, and data sovereignty, while dsh can be launched via npx @deepseek-ai/dsh.
