With Gemini 3.8 Flash, Google reminds everyone it's still in the race

Google has launched two versions of Gemini 3.8 Flash, designed for efficiency and performance. The standard Flash model serves as a workhorse for software development, agentic tasks, and multi-step reasoning, outperforming several frontier models on the DeepSWE benchmark at a lower cost. Simultaneously, Flash Cyber is introduced as the company's most capable cybersecurity model, specifically optimized for vulnerability detection and mitigation. CEO Sundar Pichai noted that these versions represent significant leaps over Gemini 3.7 Flash.
