Women taking estrogen had fewer signs of Alzheimer’s in their brains

A large study of over 21,000 participants indicates that women using estrogen-only hormone therapy later in life have a lower risk of dementia. Findings show a 39% reduction in dementia diagnosis odds and 35% lower odds of Alzheimer’s-related brain changes, such as tau tangles and amyloid plaques, during autopsies. Biomarker tests further suggest decreased amyloid buildup among users, proving that menopause drugs may offer significant neurological benefits beyond treating hot flashes and night sweats.
